ALFRED HEADSPACE
MENTAL HEALTH
The Headspace model of care seeks to identify and engage young people who are at risk of mental health and related issues such as depression, anxiety, bullying, body image issues and substance misuse. Headspace initiatives have been rolled out across 30 remote, rural, regional and metropolitan locations.
The design of the Alfred Headspace fitout in Bentleigh, Victoria, has a strong emphasis on the integration and coordination of mental health service provisions so that the full range of a young person’s needs are identified and responded to.
The space planning is driven by a practice model of constant communication, high visibility and interaction between staff and clients—co-locating private medical, psychological and psychiatric practitioners together with state/territory-funded mental health and drug and alcohol workers, as well as vocational assistance providers.
