After an early career in senior roles in large commercial practices, Serdar Baycan established Tectura in 1991, driven by a passion for the design of public buildings and a desire to improve the social fabric of our community. Over the past 31 years Serdar and the Tectura team have built a substantial portfolio of community, health and education facilities. Tectura’s working history has resulted in a refined understanding of health policies, medical technologies, models of care service delivery, teaching and learning methodologies, as well as environmental and economic sustainability issues.

SERDAR BAYCAN

DIRECTOR

Tectura’s founding director, Serdar, provides design leadership to the practice. With over 30 years’ experience in the design and delivery of urban environments and complex public buildings, Serdar has become a master of his brief.

 

His innovative design approach and excellent problem solving skills are valuable assets to clients. Serdar is passionate about design innovation in the built form and has particular expertise in the urban planning and development of ‘green’, energy-efficient buildings and their surrounds. His vision is to reduce environmental impact while bettering the built spaces for people in our community.

Nick Bergin

NICK BERGIN

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR 

Nick brings a unique skillset to the design process with a broad portfolio as an Architect with a background in commercial development work. With both a Masters of Architecture and Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) qualifications, Nick has extensive experience in the feasibility, development analysis and delivery of complicated projects on time and to budget. 

Nick’s broad portfolio of building typologies has seen work in residential, hotels, offices and more recently, extensive work in education, both specialist tertiary, secondary and primary.  Nick’s communication and strong focus on the client’s requirements, as well as his understanding of technical construction details and delivery experience in many building typologies allows him to lead the design and consultant team towards successful outcomes.

ELIZABETH GRIGG

PRINCIPAL

Elizabeth is one of Tectura’s principals and the Director of Strategic Planning. She has qualifications in Media and Healthcare as well as experience in facility planning, health care policy, industrial relations, project and program management, and organisational review.

 

With her experience in policy development and healthcare consultancy, Elizabeth brings a unique perspective to our facility development projects. Her consultative process elicits a client brief that is customer focused with a high regard for client requirements.

MELIKA GRIGG-BAYCAN

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR 

Melika has a well-established portfolio of educational, health and community projects. Experienced in Design Architect and Project Architect roles, Melika has an understanding of all facets of project delivery from leading client and community consultations, undertaking education planning/pedagogy, health planning and design, consultant co-ordination and administering building contracts.

 

A thoughtful designer, Melika has also developed a specialty and is a passionate advocate for the development of STEM pedagogies for educational projects across Victoria, where a particular focus is on the engagement of girls in STEM learning. Melika has shared this knowledge in a series of STEM conferences around Australia.
