LILYDALE LAKESIDE CHILDRENS CENTRE

The Integrated Children’s Centre at Box Hill Institute’s Lilydale Campus, provides early childhood learning and health and family support services to vocational staff and students as well as the wider community.

The considered design creates a harmonious autonomy of space that relates equally well to both children and adults. The central courtyard with its continuous veranda serves to connect learning spaces in as much as it separates them, creating autonomy of space while maximising accessibility.

The new centre incorporates day care and kindergarten facilities, a toy library, maternal and child health care rooms, as well as ample outdoor space and access to a children’s farm and garden.
