PHILLIP ISLAND
HEALTH AND MEDICAL HUB
Philip Island’s new Health and Medical Hub is as much about building community as it is about providing health and wellbeing services. The brief was to design an environmentally sustainable and modifiable building that will allow for future adaptations as well as give the appearance of a vibrant community centre rather than a medical facility.
Specialist consulting rooms of various sizes allow for an array of prospective uses, while the centre’s health promotion hub houses spacious therapy and treatment areas, as well as a gymnasium and a universal access bathroom. The multi-purpose meeting rooms allow for additional community services — whether social, recreational or educational—to be held at the facility.
Driven by ESD principles, the building design — with the provision of a therapy garden and an internal courtyard to maximise natural light — supports the holistic wellbeing of the Philip Island community.
